We welcome to Port Dalrymple School our whole community, Staff, Students, Parents, and community stakeholders. At Port Dalrymple School we take responsibility for one of life’s most important tasks – helping to build future generations of strong, confident, young people. Tomorrow’s leaders, thinkers, and doers. We nurture these qualities from an early age. From Pre-Kinder, through many opportunities and experiences to our academic programs through our transformative years to years 11 and 12, we offer opportunities and experiences both in and out of the classroom that inspire our learners to be brave, resilient, and willing to see every challenge as opportunity. We are fortunate that we have a community that embraces our young people and provide strong connections to community and industry education opportunities, and we share in ensuring every young person is Known, Safe, Well and Learning.
The complex world we live in calls for our young people to have a holistic tool set that encompasses not only their intellectual skills but also their social and emotional skills. Our young people will need to be comfortable with change and have the skills to navigate their way through complex situations often while working with individuals who have different perspectives and backgrounds. Through their learning and co-curricular opportunities, we are preparing our learners for the future.
This term we will have a strong focus across the school, ensuring we all feel Safe, Supported and Successful. We will be encouraging all our learners to take positive risks, to step outside their comfort zone and try new learnings. By following reasonable requests and being ready to learn and to being kind and accepting of all to support in creating a positive school culture.
Our goal is to ensure:
- Everyone is participating, engaged in learning and able to pursue life opportunities
- Learners are safe, feel supported and are able to flourish, so they can experience success in learning
- All students belong and have a positive sense of wellbeing
It is critical that students attend and engage with learning opportunities offered. We will be setting attendance standards early, ensuring students feel a sense of belonging to the school. We will do this by supporting our staff with time to make contact with you, invite you and your families to the Meet, Greet and Peek afternoon and by developing partnerships with families to share in the messages that encourage strong school attendance and participation in learning. Our attendance rate is currently 88%. We are committed to keeping this in the 80% range for the year.

Every school day matters
Start the year right by making every school day count. Check out this new video. There are lots of things you can do to set your child up for success:
Make sure your child goes to school, every day.
Going to school every day gives your child every chance to learn and grow, and connect with their mates and teachers.
It’s where bright futures start and where they’ll benefit the most. Get them excited for school If you show a positive attitude and excitement towards school, your child will pick up on that.
The most common thing we hear from students, of all ages, is that school is where they can:
- spend time with their friends and teachers
- create new and fun experiences
- find their interests
- learn new things
- open up their options – for whatever future they want (whether that’s their dream job or to travel around the world).
Share these positives with your child. Talk to your child about school. Open up a conversation with your child about what’s happening at school. It will help you to better support their interests and confidence in learning. If you show an interest in school, they’ll know that getting an education is important and valued. Celebrate the milestones big and small! Celebrate milestones such as making it through the first day or week of school. And remember: All milestones look different. If it’s a big achievement for your child, it’s important to recognise it. Set up a time to talk to your child’s teacher or principal If you’re struggling to get your child to school, help is available. Please talk to us at school about your situation. We’ll support you, in whatever way we can. Know when to seek help There is no weakness in admitting you need help. If your child has completely disengaged with school and not attending at all, there is support to help you. In the first instance, talk to us at school.
