Dear Families
2022 School Satisfaction Survey
It is that time of year and we would really like your assistance! The 2022 School Satisfaction Survey is here!
Every year the Department of Education conducts School Satisfaction Surveys to find out what schools do well and where they can improve.
We would be grateful if you could complete our online survey about our School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school planning and decision-making.
The survey is now open and will remain open until Friday 23rd of September 2022. It should take you only about 5 minutes to complete.
Take the online survey by clicking this link or pasting it in your browser: https://ncv.microsoft.com/ldFKUwOmtk
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential.
All families in our school will receive the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department of Education staff.
Please contact us on 63 820 500 if you require any assistance.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.
Covid-19 Update
New changes to COVID-19 isolation
Public Health has recently changed the mandatory COVID-19 isolation period from seven days to five days.
This means COVID-19 cases can leave isolation, provided they:
- are no longer displaying symptoms on Day 5 of their isolation period, and
- have had no fever for 24 hours prior to Day 5.
People that leave isolation on or after Day 5 must wear a face mask in all settings for Days 5, 6 and 7 – even if they are not displaying symptoms. People are strongly recommended to wear a face mask indoors on Days 8, 9 and 10.
Students under the age of 12 and all primary school students are not required to wear face masks when leaving isolation.
To read more about this change, please visit the Tasmanian Government Coronavirus website.
For any COVID-19 enquiries, please contact the Tasmanian Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738, or Department of Education COVID-19 Support Hotline at COVID19support@education.tas.gov.au or on 1800 816 057.
Country Gold Carnival
Please note that the Country Gold carnivals will now be a one-day event on Friday 23rd September. It is not possible to hold the carnival on a Public Holiday. The event could not continue as scheduled on the Thursday and Friday. Sporting Associations have collaborated to determine the best way forward considering the needs of their students and families. Carnival organisers will communicate changes to carnival programs to coaches who will inform participants at respective training sessions.
Art Project
Recently some of our students joined with South George Town Primary School to attend the unveiling of a Kinimathatakinta Aboriginal community art piece at the George Town Library. Students assisted with this art work in November 2021. The art work is now on display in the Community Hub
AFLW Gala Day
I would like to congratulate Charlotte, Sophie-Lee, and Keeley who recently represented our school in the LSSSA AFLW gala day. The team finished 3rd with Keeley being named in the Country Gold Combined team. Well done Keeley.
Touch Football Tournament
We have a number of sporting opportunities on offer for our young people to engage in. Recently we had Year 7-10 students participate in a Northern High School Touch Football tournament. Many of our students were playing for the first time and showed great enthusiasm and a determination to improve their skills. Our Senior Girls team performed extremely well, making the Grand Final. A great day was had by all.

Read & Play
Some of you might have heard about Read & Play and wondered what it is?
It's a wonderful program we have here at Port Dalrymple on Friday afternoons 1:45-2:45 in the Kinder building for ALL children 0-5 years old. if you need any more convincing to come along - have a look at some of the photos from last week and see what an amazing time everyone has.
In Year 7 Foods, students showed great initiative by going the extra mile in preparing, plating up and presenting their pumpkin soup. Students developed skills such as chopping, sautéing and seasoning to taste. Students then garnished their soup with additional herbs that they selected, plated up their dishes in crockery of their choice and decided how they would like to present their handmade croutons. The results were outstanding and the soup proved to be one of the most popular dishes made so far this term. Well done!
Over the past 8 weeks a group of 3/4 students have been exploring the concept of Friendship and how they can be good friends. We looked at the personal attributes of a good friend and how the students showed that in both the classroom and in the playground. Our sessions concluded with all students making tie dye t-shirts with the motto “Be Kind”. How have you been kind?
AFLW Gala Day
On Friday 9th September three girls represented the Tamar in the AFLW Gala Day which was held at South Launceston Football Ground. The girls were Keely, Sophie Lee and Charlotte and all played extremely well. The team lost the first game quite against the LSSSA by quite a bit but then improved over the next few games and ended up finishing third, winning their final against the ENE team but quite a large margin. Keeley was impressive all day working hard all over the ground and was rewarded by being named in the Country Gold team and has the opportunity to train with AFL Tas coaches. Well done to these girls on their efforts over the course of the day.
Congratulations to the following students, who received a Merit Certificate in our last assembly.
